Want to promote positive changes in America's Economy? The Unionized Workforce does just that. In a time when our workers are being attacked on every front, it is up to the you to fight for economic justice and social equality. The first step is to let your Union know of someone in a non-union shop that is interested in learning how the IAM can help. You Can't Keep a Good Machinist Down...
How Brothers Terneus and Richardson Helped Save Brother Schafer's Life

Local Lodge 837B Conductor Sentinel

Charlie Kanning

Charlie Kanning began his career at McDonnell-Douglas in 1985 as a jig-builder in the Tolling Department. Charlie has served as Shop Steward since 1997.

Kanning is currently filling the position of Conductor-Sentinel for Local Lodge 837B and is also the co-chair for the Lodge PAC Committee.

Charlie attended two important Legislative Conferences in Washington, DC where he expressed the memberships interest to fair and impartial labor laws. When speaking to the nation's Congressmen and Senators, Charlie pushed them in the direction that supports working men and women across our country.

As a member of the Local, Charlie attended several Tool & Die conferences during his career. These conferences allow for a greater dialogue between the working class to share important issues affecting the backbone of most industries.

Charlie and his wife, Janet, live on a 4th generation farm in Moro, IL. They have one daughter and son-in-law and three grandchildren.

Charlie and Janet enjoys attending Little League baseball games and other school functions with their grandchildren. When alone, Charlie likes to golf anytime and anywhere and during the winter months enjoys hunting.

Charlie is most appreciative of the trust people have placed in him as he represents their interests in Lodge and National affairs.
